This set features outstanding model and special effects make-up artist Meaghan O'Keefe of OpenWoundFX. Meaghan cast this eye appliance in silicone from a mold made from a clay slulpt. She then painted it and added real stitches. After she applied it, she embellished it with makeup to blend, add veining, details, irritation etc. This thing was amazing in person, and I only hope I did it justice in the photos.
I was introduced to the beauty of french postcards by the glory of the book that is Nude 1925: One Hundred Classic French Postcards pretty early in my youth. In our household artistic nude images were never taboo or off limits, and being a lesbian household if anything they were celebrated. Frankly I remember years in which the bathroom was stocked regularly with Playboy. As my younger brother and I aged those things changed in the name of decency, but art nudes were never hidden. That said, this book was always shelved or stored somewhere to discourage us from examining it too closely, but it was sought out with regularity anyway.
This set features lovely Las Vegas area Steampunk Mai. After an introduction through I believe the Brass Goggles forum, we had the pleasure of meeting her and her companion Green when we were in the area in Oct/Nov 09. Mai and Green had built her this fantastic set of articulated prop wings, using a Clockwork Coture harness as a base, and I was thrilled to shoot her in them.
We had an absolute blast running around Red Rock Canyon for this shoot. And although Mai is not a professional model of any sort, she was an absolute pleasure to work with. I really truly love shooting members of the steampunk community in their garb and gear. Possibly moreso than I like playing dress-up with models, fun as that is, if only because I don't think enough of them know how really beautiful they are.

P.S. Bear with me as I'm working out some kinks in the RSS feed. If there is no link below in the feed that says "Click to Continue", just hop on over here to http://lexmachinaphoto.com/blog to see the rest. Thanks!
New business cards for LMP. I'm pretty pleased with this design. I should have made a light version as well, because I frequently hand them out at events in dark bars, but maybe that's not such a mistake on my part because people will be googling me the next day when they're hungover and can't remember why it's in their pocket.
And yes, I know, there's a long ass web address right there at the bottom, but you know what, I'd probably just google "lex machina" myself because I'm lazy and nosey like that.
